The tenant reacts by devoting his attention to the interior decoration, furniture,
and ornaments. After having received his house, either from the state or a landlord,
the tenant takes a kind of psychological revenge through interior
decoration; this allows him to enter into competition with the creator of
the house, whom he defies by visiting a furniture store. There, he is confronted
with finished products to be bought and placed within a finished product, his
home ; which in turn is part of still another finished product, the neighborhood.
